Local Lay Teachers & Facilitators

Though the Land of Compassion and Wisdom is a small group, we are blessed to have several members who have studied, practiced, and taught Buddhism over the years. They have attended retreats and taken teachings from many masters in the Gelug Tradition, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and other great Lamas.  These individuals serve our group as leaders and facilitators.

The Land of Compassion and Wisdom was begun in 2003 by Bonnie Baptist under the advice of Lama Zopa Rinpoche.  For many years, she was our faithful teacher, having completed FPMT Spiritual Program Coordinator and Foundation Training and studied under great Gelug  tradition teachers, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Ribur Rinpoche, and Choden Rinpoche.  She also served for two years as Spiritual Program Coordinator at Land of Medicine Buddha in California and was the Regional Coordinator for FPMT North America from 2001-2009.  Around the end of the decade, Bonnie left Austin.
