Geshe Soepa

Returns to

On Monday, March 2, 2015, Geshe Thubten Soepa  departed from Austin, returning to India.  Over a period from July 2014 through March 2015, he visited the North America continent.  In addition to teachings at the Land of Compassion and Wisdom here in Austin, Geshe-la also visited other Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition centers:  Alaska, Vermont, and New York, as well as various locations in Mexico.

Before he left, on February 2150222RefugeGeshe2, 2015, Geshe-la led several members of the Land of Compassion and Wisdom in taking Refuge and Bodhisattva vows, along with giving a teaching on the vows.

On March 1st, Geshe-la was honored at a potluck dinner.

We were so sad to say good-bye to Geshe-la.  When he visits, we are honored with teachings on a variety of Buddhist topics.  Just a few of the many teachings we received over the last months were:  What is Buddhism and Why Is It Beneficial, The Noble Eightfold Path, Karma and Rebirth, An Antidote to Our Delusions, Transforming Problems and Suffering, How Do We Develop Joyful Effort, What To Do with this Special Human Life.

Geshe Soepa usually visits the North American continent, basing his stay in Austin, every two years.  So, we now look forward to his next visit.

Venerable Robina Courtin’s Teachings

at the

Land of Compassion and Wisdom

Venerable Robina Courtin gave evening teachings in Austin, April 27 and 28, 2014.  Over two dozen students were present for these wonderful teachings that were like an abbreviated Lam Rim course…so much in so little time.  Suffering, karma, happiness, emptiness, vows, attachment/anger/ignorance, the mind and more; these were not little sips of water but fountains to splash in then try try to absorb!

This was an example of positive collective karma ripening and how precious it was.

Thank you, Venerable Robina, for what you have given us.
